I am a paediatric gastroenterologist with over 18 years of experience at the consultant level, working in both the NHS and the private sector. I graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in Dublin in 1993 and completed my postgraduate paediatric training in Cambridge, UK. I then attained my subspecialist qualification in London and obtained my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition in September 2004.
I have extensive experience in both acute and chronic paediatric gastrointestinal disorders, with particular expertise in GI motility disorders. To further develop my expertise in this field, I completed a clinical fellowship in neurogastromotility at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard University, USA. My other specialist interests include GI allergy, feeding disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and therapeutic endoscopy.
Throughout my career, I have worked as a consultant paediatric gastroenterologist in two of London’s largest NHS tertiary teaching hospitals. From 2005 to 2011, I was based at The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where I also held an honorary contract as the GI Lead at The Royal Brompton Hospital. From 2011 to 2017, I worked at The Royal London Hospital. In 2018, I moved abroad to Abu Dhabi, where I joined the Department of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, the largest tertiary children's teaching hospital in Abu Dhabi. After four years abroad, I returned to London in January 2023 and was reappointed to my NHS consultant post at The Royal London Hospital, where I now lead the paediatric GI motility services.
I have authored numerous research publications in peer-reviewed journals and continue to maintain an active academic career. I was honored with a clinical professorship at Khalifa University, College of Medicine and Health Sciences in the United Arab Emirates. My passion for medical education remains strong, and I actively lecture and support undergraduate and postgraduate junior doctors in both the UK and the UAE.
